This child is born as the fulfilment of some fairly
hefty promises made by God to generations
centuries before he arrived. For example, this
promise made centuries before:
So this baby—whom the angels tell the shepherds is “Christ the Lord”—is also revealed to
be God’s Son, God in the flesh. Which kind of
explains why the wise men walk into a dirty
stable, take a look at a pretty standard looking
baby lying in an animal food trough, and instead
of feeling sorry for him for the humble start he
has in life, recognize they need to fall down in
his presence and worship him:
