Lebanese LNGOs and the Syrian refugee crisis : Mapping a subnetwork of refugee management
When exploring the literature on Syrian refugees in Lebanon , five key actors have emerged to be those most involved in the management of the influx : the Lebanese national State , local governance , local non-governmental organisations , international non-governmental organisations and inter-governmental organisations . It is important to appreciate that none of the four sets of key actors involved in refugee management in Lebanon work independently from each other but are all part of a network . Social network analysis ( SNA ) is well established in the field of development studies ( Ivanov , 1997 ), but there has been a call for more focus on the role of NGOs and their networks in the field of international relations ( Ohanyan , 2012 ). At times it is beneficial to divide this network into sub-groups , to give more of an in-depth qualitative exploration of relationships ( Dershem et al ., 2011 ). This poster aims to map a sub-section of the network in a way that places local Lebanese NGOs at the centre of the research to explores how the other key parties involved in managing the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon interact with LNGOs .
