CSI- revamping of hospital wards At Bonitas we see Corporate Social Investment (CSI) as an integral part of our business. Through various initiatives, we aim to have a positive impact on healthcare and the communities in which we operate. BEFORE North West Job Shimankana Tabane Provincial Hospital It is for this reason that our revised CSI plan for 2019/2020 supports the Department of Health (DoH) and Government’s strategic plan for sustainable health solutions. This will be achieved by Bonitas partnering with the DoH to: • • • Refurbish local government hospital wards/clinics Improve healthcare infrastructure in disadvantaged communities Establish partnerships with private/public entities to solve challenges in identified development areas After engaging with the DoH and taking various criteria and factors into consideration, five hospitals across four provinces were identified as those in need, and have been earmarked to be part of the CSI upliftment project. The hospitals are: • • • • • Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital (Gauteng) Thembisa Hospital (Gauteng) RK Khan Hospital (Kwazulu-Natal) Blouberg Hospital/Community Health Centre (Limpopo) Job Shimankana Tabane Provincial Hospital (North West) By joining forces with the DoH and Government, we’re optimistic that this initiative will go from strength to strength and not only make a difference in those communities who need it, but to healthcare throughout South Africa. Interview We spoke to Prof John Velaphi Ndimande, Acting Chief Executive Officer, at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa, to get his take on what this initiative means to the hospital.
