1. Sports Related Tattoos
Who gets it: Sport’s enthusiasts
Where: No specific place
Thanks to the craze of just-concluded
FIFA World Cup, football fans got a chance to
show their loyalty and support towards the
sport and different nations by getting the flags,
or sport icons inked on their bodies. It not only
helps define their personality but also reflects
their passion for sports.
2. Celebrity Tattoos:
etting a tattoo is not only a style statement but also
a way to express your belief, thinking and the phase
you are going through in life. As a tattoo enthusiastic
myself, I did a bit of digging in the tattoo world. I came across
few interesting facts about the existing tattoo culture in
India. In order to find out what the top trending tattoos are
these days, I interviewed a well-known tattoo artist Tenzin
who works at Hawk Tattoos located in Saket, New Delhi,
India.
3. Religious Tattoos
Who gets it: Mostly men
Where: On their arms – biceps and shoulders.
The obvious reason why anyone would get religious
tattoos inked is to express one’s religious beliefs in a
creative way. Some people are highly funky and creative in
representing their own religion and the final product looks
magnificent.
Who gets it: Girls between the age of 13-25
Where: Mostly on their wrist or ankle
Getting the same tattoo as your
favourite Bollywood/Hollywood celebrity is an
ongoing trend these days. According to Tenzin,
“Today’s youth is very much fascinated by the
celebrities and sport stars. Youth are getting
tattoo like them and they are very fashionable
these days.”

According to tattoo artist Tenzin, girls mostly like to
get inked on their wrist, shoulder and ankle because these
are the body parts that girls like to show off. Whereas, men
get inked mostly on arms because of the fitness fever these
days. Tribal tattoos in the past used to have a lot of traditions
and spiritual thinking behind them but these days it has
simply become a fashion statement. Keeping that in mind,
people prefer getting black ink on their skin simply because
it stands out more and lasts for long compared to any other
color.
