Movies Hate Story 2 review: Surveen Chawla makes an impactful Bollywood debut! People had a lot of expectations from Hate Story 2, which managed to create a lot of buzz before the release. Now that the film has finally hit the theatres we find out, whether or not it meets expectations, as we review this erotic revenge saga H ate Story 2, which marks the Bollywood debut of Surveen Chawla and Jay Bhanushali has finally hit the theatres. The film indeed managed to create the right buzz before the release, which was proved by the fact that the trailer crossed more than 4 million views on YouTube, within four days of its launch. We, and surely you, were definitely looking forward to this erotic revenge saga. Here how it fared in living up to expectations… What’s it about: Hate Story 2 is a tale of Sonika (Surveen), the mistress of a brutal politico Mandar Mhatre (played by Sushant Singh). He has controlled her body, mind and spirit. Going against the rules of Mandar, Sonika falls for Akshay (Jay), her classmate from a photography school. An agitated Mandar gets Akshay killed and Sonika buried alive. Sonika, however, manages to escape from the coffin and seeks revenge with the help of an honest police officer played by Siddharth Kher. Mandar’s wife (played by Neha Kaul), also troubled and illtreated by him, hits the final nail in the coffin helping Sonika kill Mandar. What’s hot: Surveen Chawla has undoubtedly made an impact-full Bollywood debut with Hate Story 2. From playing a bubbly girl on the small screen to portraying the character of an avenging woman on the 70mm, this girl, who is also being touted as the new sex symbol of Bollywood has surely come a long way. Having said that, since it’s her first outing on the silver screen, there is still scope of improvement. Jay Bhanushali doesn’t have a meaty role in the flick but is good in whatever he gets. Sushant Singh is quite convincing as a brutal politician. He sums the performance with a brilliant act. The overall editing is efficient. The juggling of the plot throught past and present keeps the audience hooked and alert. Cinematography is good. And dialogues add the right flavour and drama to this film. Mithoon, Meet Bros Anjjan, Rashid Khan have done a good job with the music. The recreation of the old melody Aaj phir tumpe from Madhuri Dixit-Vinod Khanna starrer 1988 film Dayavan is brilliantly sung by Arijit Singh. While Sunny Leone’s item number Pink Lips is, of course, one of the major highlights of the film. What’s not: Though Sunny is looking sizzling hot in the item song, the song is sequenced very oddly, coming out of nowhere. The plot paces a bit slowly in the second half. There are a few scenes in the film, which will remind you of the American action/thriller film Kill Bill with Uma Thurman in the lead role. What should you do: Hate Story 2 is a mix of sensuality and revenge drama weaved in a good story. So if you are a revenge saga fan, you shouldn’t miss this one.
