AT CANNES

FESTIVAL

SONAM KAPOOR is in Cannes for only two days but seems to have a packed schedule alright.

The fashionista is scheduled to make six appearances in all, including two on the red carpet, and the rest off it. Sister Rhea, her personal stylist, is also travelling with her and we can tell you that between the two of them they are carrying five massive suitcases stuffed with all their clothes and the baubles, besides their little travel bags.A day after wowing everyone with her elegant vintage look in a black Elie Saab at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, Sonam Kapoor turned a desi belle in a pale pink Anamika Khanna couture net sari dress. She left her hair open this time and no earrings. A perfect 10 from Bollywood's fashionista. Later for the Chopard backstage party at Cannes which was also her final appearance this year, Sonam Kapoor wore a lilac chiffon strapless Elie Saab Couture gown. - See more at: http://indianexpress.com/photos/entertainment-gallery/sonam-kapoor-is-a-desi-belle-at-cannes-2014/4/#sthash.PTR1ScrT.dpuf

The festival will open on May 15 with 'The Great Gatsby', which also has megastar Amitabh Bachchan in a cameo. The actor will be attending the opening ceremony while the festival has extended a special invite to his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai, a regular at Cannes' red carpet.

This year, four Indian films have been selected in different non-competition categories at Cannes.

'Bombay Talkies', an anthology film by four directors --Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar -- will have a gala screening at the festival.

Kashyap will also be screening his 'Ugly' in festival's Directors' Fortnight sidebar where he earlier showcased his two-part revenge drama 'Gangs of Wasseypur'.

Dabba' (Lunchbox) and 'Monsoon Shootout', co-produced by Kashyap, have been selected for Cannes Critics Week and Midnight Screening sections respectively.

Vidya Balan, who made her Cannes Film Festival debut as the jury member in 2013, wowed us with her choice of traditional wear. She is part of the Cannes Film Festival nine member Jury, comprising Japanese director Naomi Kawase; Australian actress and producer, Nicole Kidman; British scriptwriter, director and producer, Lynne Ramsay; French actor and director Daniel Auteuil; Taiwanese director, producer and scriptwriter, Ang Lee; Romanian scriptwriter, director and producer Cristian Mungiu and Austrian Actor, Christopher Waltz. The jury will be presided over by American director and producer Steven Spielberg. The predictable Vidya Balan did manage to grab eyeballs - be it her lehengas or the nathni. Her personal favourite and friend Sabyasachi - no surprises - designed all the outfits that she wore at the festival.
