By: Solaima Tarabay & Rackel Abou Matar supervised by professor Rasha Abou Hamdan( PHD)
Modern University for Business and Science through entrepreneurship course in fall semester ‎2014-2015‎ asked students to interview entrepreneurs. So we,“ Solaima Taraby and Rackel Abou Mattar ‏,”‏ have chosen Mr. Naja Faysal who is considered one of the young entrepreneurs in Lebanon. In addition, he is the manager of Boldwin School that took the attention of media due to the integration of technology into the curriculum. The interview was held on ‎27‎ / 1 / ‎2015‎ at ‎1:00‎ pm at Boldwin School in Kfarkatra Al Shouf.
Mr. Naja Faysal was very welcoming in his kind and humble reception. He was proud for being selected among many other entrepreneurs. First, he started by introducing himself as the owner and principal of Boldwin School, and the CEO of Boldwin’ s S. A. R. L( Societe a Responsiblite Limitee ‏.(‏ His background goes back to graduating business from NDU. Then he was hired in an advertising agency on the internet where he worked for four years. He climbed the ladder starting as an executive, then a manager and director where he was promoted twice. From his experience in the company he worked for, he learned the positive impact of keeping the employees very professional, building their careers for a prosperous future, and making sure they were happy and motivated; where always finding a way to celebrate the victory of the business with the employees was considered very uplifting and beneficial for their self-esteem. After that, it was the beginning of the digital marketing era where he looked up the programs in U. K. and thought it best to study in Cambridge University. And so he did for a year, transferring to digital marketing and solutions.
What inspired him to return to Lebanon was reading books about successful people that inspired him and stirred a sense of purpose in his heart. One particular man who influenced him most was Steven Colvin, who gives great advice about seeking purpose in one’ s life. When he was in Dubai, he wrote his mission statement for his company 3 years before coming back and through it discovered what he wanted. It was all a matter of timing and his purpose was to live his life as a journey by making a difference. So, he recognized that the mixture of education and technology really empowers the students and can make noticeable changes in terms of grasp, motivation, and student satisfaction. He decided that establishing a modern school in a different form and shape with young staff, careful curriculum that was chosen by converting traditional books into e-books, learning by watching movies and singing, would greatly benefit the pupils. So, heavy books were replaced by tablets without neglecting the importance of writing.
