What is it like running for a position in politics ?
It is really tough , but also a lot of fun . Getting to meet people has always been the best part of the job for me , and you get to do a lot of that ! Fundraising and having your opponent say lots of nasty things about you isn ’ t alway the funnest , but it is obviously a part of the process ! I have found it be very rewarding overall , and you gain a lot of experience and benefit from the run , regardless of the outcome .
What advice would you give someone that wants to do what you do ?
Get engaged early and often . Get to know your local and state elected officials . Get engaged on some issues you care about . There are really no shortcuts in public service . Put in the work , figure out what you ’ re passionate about , and figure out the best way to make progress in that area .
What is your favorite part about your job ? Meeting and engaging with people .
What do you want to accomplish in the future ?
Just continue to pass legislation and secure funding for the things that Mid-Missouri prioritizes . A lot of what I work on came from constituents , local small businesses , etc . Just simply trying to find good solutions to problems facing Mid-Missourians .
