Meet
Tommy!
Hi, my name is Tommy. I am currently a seventh grader. I moved to
Jefferson City from Chicago, IL last year. Yeah, sure I wasn’t very
happy when I found out about it, but, I understood that moving
would open a new chapter and a new adventure in my life.
We landed in JC two weeks before school started. School was right
around the corner, and I was getting nervous, but at least I knew a
couple of kids from my grade, as well as 7 th and 8 th graders because of
running cross country. I kept occupied by running cross country for
my school as well as other school activities to meet new people.
I am involved in Student Council, Boy Scouts, and robotics. I like to
run cross country and track, and I took up a totally new sport for
me, archery. The funny this is, I barely get tired after a cross country
practice even though my legs hurt super bad. Running for me is pret-
ty enjoyable because it keeps me moving and fit. I run with one of my
friends that is a sixth grader now.
The one thing that is hard about moving is leaving a place that you
have known forever, your home and your old friends. I was really sad
on moving day, but it still turned out to be ok for the rest of my family
and me.
I am enjoying the adventure that lays ahead of me. Also, I am still
in touch with some friends from Illinois. Whenever I talk to one
of them, I remember so many of our best memories. The lesson I
learned is never to give up hope because anything can happen.
