Armed with her business license and a portfolio of her work, Kim set out to share her love of fashion with the community. She rented space in a local center, recruited men and women to model in her fashion show. The first show had over 350 guests and was held in the ballroom of a local inn. For some time following, every year Kim would bring in prominent designers from New York, invited local celebrities to attend and hosted her high fashion runway show in Orlando.
As time went on, she began to be observed by other celebrities who noticed the caliber of her work and requested that her company be involved in producing their events. She put on the Black Expo in Orlando for three years and she still continues to produce the O’Neal Family events.
After relocating to Atlanta in 2007, Kim realized that she needed to invest in herself to create events so that the community could see what she was capable of. By this time she had expanded her brand to include planning and producing corporate events.
Her break came when the city of Lovejoy, Georgia brought her company on board to produce their annual Fall Festival. They wanted a change from the usual and she created a music festival which included artists and vendors. This was a huge success and it opened the door for many other offers from municipalities and organizations.
Some of her own events have included:
The Pink Ribbon Breakfast where 100 plus cancer survivors and their supporters are celebrated.
Sister to Sister Conference for girls ages 12 to 17. The Orlando neighborhood, where Kim first held her fashion show, buses some of their girls in each year because of the impact she continues to have on those who previously attended.
Women On The Move Summit, a powerful business woman empowerment project. This year’s event was held at the Georgia Power Headquarters.
Two years into the Women On The Move Summit, Kim was approached by a station manager who wanted to talk with her about creating a television show based on this concept. Kim realized that everything she had been creating and producing up until this point had been preparing her.
So, Women On The Move Live show went live on February 1, 2016. It is a show for business women and men who are pacesetters and entrepreneurs who are making moves in the community. The show is in 2.7 million homes each week on ION TV – Thursday mornings at 6:30 a.m. Kim’s vision is for the show to be available on digital platforms and to continue expanding to other markets.

It was invigorating and encouraging speaking with Kim in preparation for this article. I learned that no matter what phase of life we are in, we should do our best and have our affairs in order so that when the opportunity for growth and expansion arises we are ready to say yes!
