Toowoomba Camellia Show The humble Camellia has some surprising facts. Our region’s high altitude means that most of our garden’s flowers fade in winter, but the beautiful Camellia thrives in the cooler months. Show your love for this unique flower by joining us at the 2017 Toowoomba Camellia Show & Garden Expo on 15 – 16 July at the TAFE Horticulture Centre, Campbell Street, Toowoomba. From 9am – 4pm each day, you’ll enjoy the amazing winter garden, Camellia competitions, Japanese Camellia tea ceremony, food and entertainment and the chance to buy a large range of Camellias. Entry for the show and expo is $8 OR just $5 for the Winter Garden OR $10 for both. Under 15 years is free. • Camellia plants can survive for up to 200 years • The leaves of the Camellia are used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat asthma • Sacramento in California is nicknamed the Camellia City • Camellia oil is used by people in Japan to nurture hair and to clean the blade of knives and tools in China • There are over 300 species of Camellia in existence, as well as 3,000 cultivars and hybrids • In the language of flowers, Camellia stands for adoration, devotion and loveliness.
