Welcome to the second edition of BOLD for 2017 . The year is shaping up to be a great one for the Toowoomba Region . The pages that follow are a wonderful showcase of the wealth of activity underway across our communities . From the highly successful Felton Food Festival which will again delight us with fresh food and wonderful entertainment , to planned road upgrades , and a new waste strategy for Council , BOLD keeps you up to date with life in the Toowoomba Region .
I personally love seeing the community profile in each edition . We have so many passionate and committed residents who quietly go about making our region a better place to live . Thanks to all who have put their hand up to either continue or start volunteering in our community this year .
Late last year we were thrilled to be named by online travel website Expedia as one of Australia ’ s most beautiful destinations . For those of us who call the region home , we have long-known that we live in one of the best places in Australia but it ’ s great to see this recognised by those external to us . Council will be working to build our tourism profile in 2017 so this recognition and publicity is very well timed .
As the cooler weather approaches , we spare a thought for our gardeners across the region who will be preparing garden beds and fine-tuning designs for their annual displays . The award-winning Carnival of Flowers brings much joy to our community and it wouldn ’ t be possible without months of hard work from the region ’ s green-thumbs .
Finally , I hope you are enjoying the BOLD publication . Our BOLD team are constantly taking on your feedback because , as a Council we are interested in providing our residents with the information they want , and in the way they want it .
