CONTENTS 4 welcome Welcome to our 12th edition of BOLD. Winter is here, the best time of year to enjoy some of our indoor attractions. There's so much on offer at the Empire Theatre and our art galleries, with plenty of shows and exhibitions to enjoy during July and August. In particular, we have a special focus on celebrations for NAIDOC week to showcase the living culture of our First Nations. InStudio Art Trail Recently we hosted the annual Mayoral Prayer Breakfast and I'm very proud that we're able to support the wonderful work of Toowoomba Community Care Transport. In this issue of BOLD we introduce you to some of the drivers and share with you the difference they're making to people's lives every day. 6 Our libraries continue to provide some fantastic activities during the school holidays to challenge, excite and engage children by expanding their minds. Look out for the regional Edison Robot program over the holiday period, an activity that combines learning with fun. In August we'll see the popular TooCon Pop Culture Festival return after its enormous success last year. This is a wonderful event for the entire family that shouldn't be missed. Volunteer drivers 7 This year’s Languages and Cultures Festival is set to showcase outstanding music performances and tempting foods from around the globe. We proudly boast rich traditions of diversity and it's great to see this festival prosper, as a day where we celebrate the customs contributed by so many cultural groups. I encourage you to bring your family along to Queens Park and enjoy this wonderful display of our multicultural region. Finally we take a look at where our water comes from and the journey from dam or bore to our taps. We offer you a sneak ‘behind the scenes’ peek at our Mount Kynoch facility and the award winning work that our water team do so our community can enjoy fresh clean water at the turn of a tap. Trail Yoga I hope you enjoy this edition of BOLD. Our team welcomes feedback to make sure we deliver a publication that is enjoyable to our residents.
