Wow Twitter’s getting serious 45 Source Evidence The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. In 1984, Stewart graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, where he studied psychology (Biography. com, February 2016, pg 1.). He became the head-runner for the daily show and has been the head-runner for that show ever since. Jon is also an accomplished writer and has directed a movie as well. Jon uses multiple news clips in the video and twitter feeds. One question I had was why he shows the evidence in the way he did. He pulls evidence to back him up from actual news clips and social media like twitter to show the relationship and similarity between the two. Motive Logic Informational in order to understand #bringbackourgirls, To help spread the word about the kidnapped girls and bring them back. Motives for satirical newscasts usually are limited to not only bringing out the truth but also poking fun at some of the more interesting news. Logical, well delivered even if it is in a satirical form. The information was presented to inform and persuade the audience about how dangerous Boko Haram is and the importance of getting ahead of them. Left Out Many important details were left out in this video. Jon filled us in on about how many schoolgirls were taken and that maybe some had escaped but he didn’t mention anything about how Boko Haram is continuing to kidnap and enslave youth in Nigeria. The original number may have been around 300, but the number since then has skyrocketed. 46
