Reports state that 276+ schoolgirls were
kidnapped by Boko Haram, but that number
is not an exact count. When actually it was
a total of 360 girls were kidnapped, 530 were
registered for the exam they were taking that
day, 70 were external, 70 were boys and 30
girls staying off campus. (Abubakar, 2014)
This statement is false.
Goodluck Jonathan, Nigerian president at
the time of schoolgirl kidnappings, failed to
recover the girls. (Okasi, 2015) According
to NBC news, the president would not even
go and visit the parents of the missing girls,
and even canceled a trip to the state. (Neely,
2014) This statement is true.
The Nigerian government is ignoring the
missing schoolgirls and nothing is being
done to hold the government accountable.
At the time of the kidnappings, the president, Goodluck Jonathan did and said
nothing. It wasn’t until hashtag #bringbackourgirls was created and there was extreme
international pressure that he reacted
and spoke on the issue. (Ibukun, 2014)

Boko Haram is taking a new approach to
their attacks. Instead of a more Guerrilla
like manner they are steering more towards
ISIS in an attempt to gain territory. (Ezeamalu, 2016) This statement is true.
