Relentless Focus on Quality Certifications and Fellowships The SoN unveiled a new strategic plan in 2012 that has a relentless focus on quality. An external indicator of quality is recognition through national certifications or becoming Fellows in national organizations. The SoN set a goal to have 60% of the faculty certified or recognized as Fellows through the American Academy of Nursing or through the Academy of Nurse Educators. This represented a significant increase for the School. I am proud to report we are almost there after one year! We currently have 54% of the faculty nationally certified in an area or who are Fellows in an academy. Certifications include holistic nursing, critical care nursing, leadership, quality matters for online teaching, XXXXX. We must have outstanding faculty to have outstanding students. Supporting Excellence Focus on Doctoral Education Doctoral Education is the goal for most College Faculty in a University setting. The SoN has been working tirelessly to increase the number of doctorally prepared faculty for many years. In 2012 we reached a goal of 50% of the faculty having doctorates. For the new strategic plan, we set a new goal of 70%. Thanks for the generous support of donors we have graduated XXX faculty with PhD and DNP degrees over the last XXX years. We also have 9 more faculty in doctoral programs. The willingness of our faculty to attend school while working full-time is a tribute to the dedication of the faculty in the SoN to advancing the quality of our education and research.
