GROUNDS

With October in the books , the golf season is coming to a close . As mother nature passes the torch on to old man winter , our greens will be putting on their winter coat to withstand the season . Higher cutting heights and some moderate topdressings will protect the plants from winter desiccation . Watering with irrigation has been concentrated around greens and other areas in the rough that were seeded . Our irrigation lake is low as we are conserving resources as the season winds down . The battle against falling leaves has been ongoing . In our efforts to keep the course as clean as possible , there will be many occasions in which leaf cleanup will take priority over raking bunkers .
The driving range tee is restricted to practicing from the mats only for the remainder of the season . Zoysia grass has stopped growing and therefore doesn ’ t allow for recovery from divots . Cart traffic is restricted to cart path only for the remainder of the season as well . Thank you for understanding the importance of this ruling as it preserves our turf for next season . Winter rules will begin resulting in winter tee locations and random hole locations . This also means the golf course maintenance staff will start bringing ball washers in and ending the practice of painting holes white for the season .
Please be patient and cooperative during the off-season ’ s frost mornings . We want to get you out on the course as soon as possible . Each frost can differ in timing and severity . It ’ s crucial to not have traffic on the turf during a frost . While under a frost or freeze , each blade of grass is like an icicle . If stepped or driven on , the blades of grass shatter and break causing injury . I will continue to do golf course updates and project updates through Facebook and Clubster , so stay tuned !
Thanks for a great season !
