The golf season is underway!

Temperatures in April felt almost more like summer than spring at times. The roughs are officially growing out of control again! We continue to mow everyday and are trying to keep up, but this turf thrives in these weather conditions and it is growing rapidly! Fairways and tees have already been mowed multiple times. It does appear that the soggy winter and early spring may have killed off some of our low lying areas in fairways and tees. We will continue to monitor these areas and replace with sod where necessary. Greens aerification was another success. Holes are closing in and putting greens are rolling smoother and truer each day. The importance of aerification is shown in the photo to the right. Healthy, white roots are shown shooting through the new sand profile left from the aerification process.

New cups, flags, flag sticks and tee markers have been put out on the course for a fresh start to the season. We have started painting holes white daily as well. The zoysia driving range tee is open for business! Thanks for all of you who respected the winter rule and practiced from the artificial turf stalls. The cart ruling on the course has changed for the season. Cart path restrictions are currently 90 degrees to your golf ball. allowing traffic in both fairways and roughs. Must exit at the blue stake. Please don't drive further towards the green than the blue stake. In the near future we hope to change the cart path ruling to fairways only, so stay tuned. Following this rule will result in withstanding traffic wear and promoting better turf and playing conditions. Thanks in advance for understanding why we restrict cart traffic at BHCC.
