"Perfect"! What does the word "perfect" mean to us? Why
this need for perfection? And what will happen when
trying to achieve this "perfect" look? Well, some people are not affected by trying to get "the model look" but 53% of thirteen year old girls are unhappy with their bodies and will do almost anything to change the way they look. This will increase to 78% when girls reach seventeen. But the sad thing is, this need to look like the unnatural models in the media, starts at the raw age of just 9. At this age, 40% of girls have tried or are trying to lose weight as they already dislike what their see!
Trying to achieve this "perfect" result most commonly
leads to an eating disorder due to the obsession with
achieving this result. You can rarely look at someone
and determine if they are suffering from an eating
disorder. For one thing there are several different types
of eating disorders, and not all of them result in weight
loss. They can affect men and woman of all ages and
races. Eating disorders are mental and also physical
illnesses. You can't simply look at a person and
determine if they are suffering from a mental condition.
Eating disorders can involve eating too much or too little, or eating followed by purging. But one thing that all of them have in common is that the sufferer has an unhealthy relationship with food.
