Smile
Anna Bailey, Class of 2018
Every time I see you,
Hear your voice,
Or think of you,
It’s my automatic facial expression.
It starts with a twinkle in the eye,
A wink of the lash,
Flare in the nose,
Curling in the line of the lips,
Dimple in the cheek,
Chin up, and head tilted.
Right arm resting on the left.
Fingers of the left hand
Creep across my chest as I think.
I remembered me.
I remembered you.
I remembered us.
Love, joy, peace,
Happiness and hope resurfaced.
I could do nothing else, but smile.
