Street style fashion has come a long way from being high fashion’s younger
step-sister. During prime fashion events such as New York Fashion Week, journalists
are reporting just as much about the fashion outside the venue as inside. As a result
of this, being fashion forward is no longer for the ones with the heaviest pockets or
designer brands. Street style has climbed up the ranks and is toe-to-toe with high
fashion. They are now equals and feed off of each other for survival.
From the beginning of its rise in the 1950’s to now, street style has no plans of
going anywhere. As the millennial generation begins to outnumber the baby
boomers, the need for costly designer brands dwindles and affordable fashion lines
begin to rise, the streets will soon echo with their imagery.
