ALBUMS OF THE YEA
With the attention grabbing song “Mt. Olympus”, this 9
year hip hop vet woke everyone up and demanded we
hear what he’s been saying since the start of his Career.
The Mississippi artist, BIG K.R.I.T, recently released his 5th
studio album in November and with over 43,000 in album
sales made in its first week, “Cadillatica”, makes our list of
being Album of the year.
After 14 years of not releasing any new music, this Neo-Soul
heartthrob decided to drop a whole 12 track album in response
to the protests happening nationally, and we must say...we didn’t
think anything would bring him out of hiding. D’Angelo was hot
back in the 2000’s and with his new album “Black Messiah”
landing the 5th spot on Billboard’s top 200 albums chart, he
proved to be even hotter at the end of 2014.
Although this artist dropped both a debut and sophomore
album in the last couple of years, his album sales didn’t
at all reflect his greatness. J.Cole recently released his
3rd album “2014 Forest Hills Drive” with an alarming
354,000 copies sold in its first week. Cole also has the
6th album under Roc Nation record label to top the charts
at No.1.

Mick Jenkins grabbed the attention of Worldstar hip hop viewers with his viral video
“Martyrs” that was posted in January which was later featured on his fourth mixtape
“The Water[s]” that dropped in august. In the video Mick was mocking his rap
counterparts who flaunt their gold chains while hangin’ out with their crew, but the
perspective Mick took on with the phrase “Hangin’ with my n*****” will make you
realize there’s a double entendre to everything he speaks of on his tape. This is
definitely a [3rd] eye opening and thought provoking project that needs to be heard.
