What should we expect from your
upcoming project “Room #93”?
“My pops raised me
on everybody
from Rakim to
Naughty by
Nature to Chino
XL, who is like
an uncle to me”
I’m not dropping Room #93 till I feel
it’s ready. It’s just an idea right now
but the concept basically represents
me being born in ‘93 and anybody
around my age or born around that
time. I see most of us are all grinding
to be where we need to be and we all
have the same issues we’re dealing
with to get there. We’re all in the same
boat, same room. I’m just telling you
what it means to me and most of the
young people getting it can relate.
With the artist(s) and producer of
your choice, who would you collab
with to make the perfect track?
Sh*t I got a lot. I wanna work with
artist like Dom Kennedy, Nipsey
Hussle, Rockie Fresh, Curren$y,
anybody out of TDE & J Cole. I guess
you can throw DJ Khaled at the end to
make this one track [Laughs].
Producers would be Key Wayne,
Cardo, No i.d., Blueprint, Purple Haze
and Kanye.
Any motivations?
My son. I always tell myself I want him
to have seen the world by time he 18.
I wanna make it so his kids and their
kids is set.
What is “TakeGuap”?
TakeGuap is basically a concept me and the homie Matt (NoGumMatt of NOGUM) came
up with. We needed something to brand ourselves with and represent the message
we’re trying to put out. The word GUAP doesn’t have to mean money it can mean anything you want in life, any goals you set for yourself, going to get it, and not depending
or waiting on NOBODY. It’s a lifestyle.
Right now it’s just Me, my Primary Producer NoGum Matt, My lil’ bro Regis, the homies
Mark & Lajuane (Owners of Asset Worldwide clothing Brand) and anybody who supports what we’re doing, it’s more so a lifestyle than a group/team. We’re actually
looking for an engineer, videographer & graphic designer so everything can be in
house.
