Michael has over 40-years’ experience in flow measurement and is chair of several standards committees, including BSI CPI 30/2 (British Standards Institution: differential pressure meters) and OIML TC 8/SC 5 (International Organisation of Legal Metrology: water meters). TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory is a world-class provider of technical consultancy, research, testing and programme management services. Part of the TÜV SÜD Group, the organisation is also a global centre of excellence for flow measurement and fluid flow systems and is the UK’s Designated Institute for Flow Measurement. Paul Greenwood Divisional Director (Laboratories) UKAS Paul Greenwood (CChem MRSC) joined UKAS in 2006 after a 13-year post-graduate career as a chemist in the fields of drinking water analysis, environmental testing and analytical instrument manufacture. Since joining UKAS he has progressed from the role of Assessment Manager/Technical Assessor to the position of Operations Director. In addition to oversight of the accreditation of around 1500 laboratories he is a member of the UKAS Executive and responsible for ensuring strategic development and delivery of accreditation nationally and internationally. Paul is an active participant in various BSI technical committees and a member of the UK Reference Material Working Group. Matthew Gypps UK Technical Manager Trescal Matthew covers all of the UK and works with other technical managers worldwide. His team are responsible for maintaining and developing all technical services, plus monitoring and improving their capability. Matthew started as a calibration and repair apprentice nearly 30 years ago and has worked in a variety of roles throughout the business including sales and branch manager. He has professional qualifications in H&S and management as well as electronic engineering. He’s an avid problem solver, whether it be repairing defective electronic equipment, (which was why he started as an apprentice) or by providing a solution to a customer’s calibration requirements. He took on the role within the technical team to make a difference and deliver some of the solutions that as an engineer he had wanted for many years Matthew was given the opportunity to join the BMTA council when a colleague stepped down. As the largest provider of calibration services, he is here to share his industry experience and knowledge gained not just from the UK but from the worldwide Trescal activities. Working in the testing, calibration, inspection and certification sector has developed his keen interest in quality management and the benefits it can provide to organisations and their customers when it is appropriately and consistently applied.
