Understanding Bluffton ' s Boundaries
Have you ever noticed how Bluffton ' s Town limits create a patchwork pattern? Some neighborhoods are part of Bluffton, while others nearby are not. These unincorporated areas surrounded by Town limits are called " doughnut holes."
Examples include Woodbridge and Sandy Pointe neighborhoods off Buckwalter Parkway.
By South Carolina law, the Town cannot initiate annexation of a property. Property owners interested in joining Bluffton must start the process themselves by contacting the Town. This law explains why our boundaries zigzag throughout the region.
Remember: If you live in a planned neighborhood, your POA handles road maintenance, storm drainage, and common areas within your community. The Town does not maintain these private areas.
