COVERSTORY

I'm In The Mood

John Lee Hooker

Shall we start with a different cover story? No. It won’t be a tribute, we just want to tell to our readers: we wanna share the “mood”, a true blues by John Lee Hooker (JLH), playing with a blues woman like Bonnie Raitt (there are a lot of blues women all around the world).

Not a classic blues with rhymes. Not a strictly blues. John Lee Hooker (1917-2001) hated rhymes (and that’s his real copyright) and he still say us that blues is music that comes from real people, their stories and soul.

I’m In The Mood dated 1951 was rated first single in the R&B charts selling 1 million copies. In 1951 !!!

I’m In The Mood is a sophisticated blues for those years and tells us that John Lee Hooker was not only a bluesman but an innovator of the music of last century.

“Boom Boom” is another great blues (a very famous one) and all of us remember John Lee Hooker’s movie clip in “The Blues Brothers”. Enjoy the live version dated 1982.

Boom Boom (Room) is also a famous bar, founded by JHL, in Fillmore St. - San Francisco, where you can listen (live and also for free sometime), many good musicians and great music.

Just take a tour, drink something and enjoy the “mood”. Thank you Mr. Hooker.
