Q: Hi Kasey. Tell us a bit about yourself.
A: I am 18, I live in Colorado, I have been at AOA for 2.5 years, I have a YouTube channel, and I program.
Q: What is t he Apple Developer scholarship?
A: The Apple Developer Scholarship is awarded to 350 people every year. The age range this year was 10- 80 for people that won. You submit a project that fits Apple? s rules for the submission and pray to win. If you win you get to go to WWDC for free. There are plenty of other perks, but I wouldn? t want to spoil them. WWDC is where Apple announces their new technology, and you get to learn for Apple Engineers about all the cool new stuff. If you need help with something apple has hundreds of engineers waiting to help.
Q: How did you find out about t he Apple developer sch olar sh ip?
A: When I started coding, I heard about someone winning this thing they called the Apple Developer Scholarship. I thought,? Wow that person was really lucky,? and that next year I would give it a shot.
Q: What does it t ake t o be an Apple Developer?
A: Well, an Apple developer in the sense of developing stuff using apples developer tools just takes a passion, or drive, and a lot a trial and error. In the sense of an actual Apple Developer, where you work for Apple, that would take a great college degree and passion, but mainly God? s timing.
Q: What st eps did you t ake t o receive t his scholarship?
A; At first, I found out you could subscribe to get email notifications when the scholarship rules were released, so I did that. Then about a month later I got an email stating the rules and what they were going to judge on. After a few mistakes of not reading the instructions properly, I started on my Playground. I actually had never made a Playground, so Apple had some sample projects where I found a base to start, and I just kept building. I finished and submitted on the day after they opened submissions.
