In The Revolutionary, we meet Portia Abernathy again at the Warren satellite. The book shows how Portia struggles with being a mine runner. She finds herself wondering how long she will live through her 20-year sentence and if the Brotherhood will ever find her. She finds herself stumbling into an underground smuggler ?s headquarters. The smuggler forces her to either earn her keep or go back to die in Warren. She struggles with whether she should go back and suffer with Gath under a slave master or serve under what seems like another slave master and hopefully save Gath from starvation in the process. Her new master plants her as a spy in Crystal. As she goes through life in Crystal, she wonders if she will ever be able to see Luther Danforth again and if she will ever find out how he feels about her. She also wonders what has happened to her friends Lydia and Jael. Portia also struggles with the fact that all revolutions come with a cost, and that cost is blood. Does she really want the lives of others to be lost to gain the freedom that all the people really want? Will the Brotherhood ever find her? Will Gath survive, or will he die from starvation? Three months a satellite prisoner, Portia wonders if the B rotherhood has left her to die? until she plunges into the domain of a smuggler contacted by her brother. But her rescue comes with a price tag, and now, she must forfeit her identity to act as a spy. She learns that her enemies want the Dome to approve mass satellite executions, though no one knows why. Worse, they?re using her friend Luther, now a Court Citizen intern, to sign the short-term orders. She wants to confide in Luther, but can she still trust him with the company he keeps? Plagued by shadows and guilt for leaving her protector Gath behind on the satellite, Portia must find a way, not only to rescue him and the other prisoners, but also to destroy the slave camps once and for all. 5
