5) Help you r m in d r em em ber all 4) Not e t ak in g When you take notes, you should not copy all the words in your lessons, instead use your own words to be able to remember things easier. Abbreviate common words such as (and-&)(because-bc)(example-ex). Try to make sentences as short as possible. Use visual helps like a little drawing next to a person, or draw a flag when you are studying about a specific country. Color coding with sticky notes or highlighters is fun as well. Print out charts or cut images from magazines to represent your notes, that way you will have extra help for remembering information. The best way to remember something is when you relate it to something you know well. For example, if you are studying about John Adams, you may remember him because of your Uncle John, or something like that. Talk to your friends or family about a topic that you want to remember. Sometimes saying things out loud will help your brain remember things better. If you study about a foreign country, relate it to where your friends live, or to a show you watch. If by chance you have the ability of making up songs, write songs that will include your lesson content in their lyrics. 6) Do n ot st r ess Due dates, projects, exams, keeping up with school, and your personal life may be stressful, so you should find something that will help you calm your mind. Drawing sometimes helps when you are stress or worried. Talk to your teachers, family or friends whenever you need help. Look for extra information on the Internet or in books if you did not understand something completely. It is good to take your time, and breath deeply. Set goals and priorities. Most importantly, ask God for help and rest in His arms. He will fill you with a peace in a way that you may not even understand. 17
