At lant a fans were full of rem orse from t he surprise loss t o New England in t he first overt im e in Super Bowl hist ory . New England cam e back from a 25- point deficit , t he largest in Super Bowl hist ory .
I t all st art ed wit h a sweet coin t oss wit h form er president George H . Bush and first lady Barbara Bush . At lant a won t he t oss and chose t o receive t he ball in t he second half .
Neit her t eam scored in t he first quart er . The Falcons , however , m anaged t o get t he first t ouchdown in t he second quart er . This began t he long run of t he gam e in which t he Falcons seem ed t o be dom inat ing .
At lant a ? s defense put pressure on Tom Brady and Robert Alford was able t o run an int ercept ion for 82 yards for a pick- 6 . This was only answered by a field goal t o end t he half .
This was followed by a halftim e show wit h Lady Gaga which st art ed wit h her on t op of t he st adium singing wit h hundreds of drones form ing various shapes behind her . The Pat riot s finally got t heir first t ouchdown of t he gam e in t he t hird quart er . Unfort unat ely for t hem , Gost kowski m isses t he ext ra point . This was Gost kowski ? s fifth ext ra point m issed t his season . This lead t o t he fourt h quart er .
At first it felt as if t he quart er would go like t he rest wit h Brady get t ing sacked a whopping t hree t im es , while Ryan only got sacked once . However , t he Pat riot s gained a t ouchdown followed by a 2- point conversion .
I n t heir next possession , t he Pat riot s t urned up t he heat wit h a fant ast ic cat ch by
Edelm an t hat was alm ost an int ercept ion . The Falcons showed t heir t alent s in t he sam e fashion wit h an im pressive cat ch by Julio Jones , inches from being out of bounds . This was all for naught , t hough , because t he Pat riot s ended up wit h anot her t ouchdown followed by a 2- point conversion , t heir second , t o t ie up t he gam e .
This sent t he Super Bowl int o it s first ever overt im e . The Pat riot s won t he coin t oss and st art ed out st rong wit h lot s of yardage . They t hrew a pass int o t he end zone t hat m issed but had a foul at t ached t o it . The foul was pass int erference against At lant a . This m ade it first and goal for New England . New England got t he t ouchdown and won t he gam e !
This was Brady ? s fifth Super Bowl win which is t he m ost in t he NFL . All in all , it was a great record breaking gam e wit h a dram at ic t wist at t he end .
