While these descriptions may seem like they apply to a secret agent in a mystery series , they describe Ignite Christian Academy ? s very own science teacher , Mrs . Yelton . She has graciously taken the time to share about herself , from her childhood up to her present-day passions . Read on to discover more about her !
Q . Where did you grow up ? Do you have any int erest ing childhood m em ories ?
A . I grew up in Conyers , Georgia . We lived down the street from a monastery . Even though my family was not Catholic , we used to go a lot . My father was their attorney , and we were friends with many of them . As a child , when we would go visit , they would often have candy stashed behind the statues and in the different nooks and crannies of the buildings . They loved to pull it out and give us all kinds of treats when we would come . They also had a guest room they would ? sneak " us into and let us jump on the bed . They also had a large collection of bonsai trees and other ornamental plants that weren ? t common in the southeast . It is where my love of plants and life sciences began .
Q . What schooling m et hod did you receive as an elem ent ary and high school st udent ?
A . I went to our local public schools for my K-12 education . During the summers of my high school years , I went to academic summer camps in Massachusetts at a variety of boarding schools . I loved it and wanted to attend during the school year too . However , my parents wanted me to live at home during those years . As a parent now , I can understand
Q . What college did you go t o , and w hat degree did you pursue ? Were you expect ing t o t each w it h t hat degree ?
A . I went to Berry College in Rome , Georgia . My degree was in Animal Science and Biology . I intended to go into a research field . During my senior year , I was blessed to have an internship in the primate department at Zoo Atlanta . It was an amazing experience , and I loved every minute of it . However , it became clear over time that it wasn ? t a good job for someone who wanted to have a family , and eventually , I chose to leave the Zoo and
