from family and friends, it hits home,” said Daniel.

With 20 years of success behind it and an exciting future ahead, it’s clear GVI has found a model that creates engaged citizens around the world. Over time, it’s these alumni that rise to senior management positions, using the soft skills and compassion gained on their GVI trip to influence organizations large and small.

And that’s how, trip-by-trip, and guest-by-guest, GVI is growing a global network of passionate people who want to make a difference with the environment around them.

According to GVI, the organization has three clear objectives against which they measure success:

Learning: We believe in providing excellent training and learning for the participants and creating partnerships with education institutions.

Making a Dfference: We believe in ensuring there is measurable impact on all our programs and on the participants, driving them to stay engaged with issues we are tackling.

Engaging: We believe in an ongoing engagement of our alumni. Whether it is returning to a GVI program or staying engaged with marine issues and solutions in your home town, only then we will be able to achieve our mission of creating a network of passionate people who want to make a difference.

We consider our alumni to be all people we come into contact with, be they donors, fundraisers, volunteers, interns, local partner staff or local community members we work with. The key local and global issues line up closely with the issues identified by international conservation and community development groups, specifically with the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals:

Each one of our operational hubs around the world focuses upon the key global issues considered to be local priorities and as requested by our local partners and communities.
