Dear fellow Blue Number holders
As you are probably aware, Stillwater Sports has been contracted as the staging partner for the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon for the next six years. This relationship has freed the Board from the burden of managing the operational elements of the event and will allow it to focus on the bigger vision for the race. For example, we will re-imagine TOMi as a catalyst for social benefit and upliftment.
An exciting opportunity awaits.
With our increased operational resources, we are also able to re-visit elements of Two Oceans that make the event special. One of these is the Blue Number Club, and this digimag is a first step in elevating the BNC and honouring the loyalty and passion of a special group of runners. Enjoy the journey.

The Blue Number Club( BNC) is arguably the soul of the Two Oceans Marathon. Each permanent number represents years of sacrifice, countless hours on the road, and a deep commitment to the traditions that make this race unique. BNC members are not just participants; they are the guardians of Two Oceans, carrying forward its proud legacy and ensuring its spirit endures for future generations.
My own Two Oceans journey began in 1998 with the Half Marathon, and in 2000 I ran my first Ultra Marathon. I was captivated by the allure of the ultra, it’ s rich history and traditions. In 2009, I received my permanent Blue Number 3786 from Celtic Harriers legend Alex Jones, founder of the Peninsula Marathon and Don Lock Memorial Race. That moment remains one of my proudest milestones. Looking ahead to my 19th ultra in 2026, I remain inspired by the community of runners who share this bond.
The Two Oceans Marathon itself owes its existence to the Celtic Harriers Club, the proud founder of this iconic event. Their vision created a race that has become a national treasure, and the BNC stands as living proof of that enduring legacy.
While the race has faced serious challenges in recent years, I believe a new dawn beckons. With Stillwater Sports as staging partner and a Board committed to strategic renewal, we are restoring the essence of Two Oceans. At the heart of Two Oceans is the BNC, so expect to be celebrated at the Expo, the BNC dinner, and throughout race weekend. As a Board member, I look forward to welcoming you, old and new, and ensuring we continue to plant trees so that future generations may enjoy the shade.
