TIME FOR

The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon has a rich history of more than 50 years, so we asked our runners what tradition or piece of Two Oceans heritage they particularly love, or would love to see brought back to the race. Here are some of the responses we received from our Blue Number Club members.
Bring back the hard copy of the Two Oceans magazine and The Ship’ s Log Book, decent Blue Number Club clothing and mementoes, plain Two Oceans mementoes, runners with Blue Numbers should have access to the Blue Number tent, even if they are not running that year, the fun runs, Yellow and Blue Numbers to start in“ C” group, the list goes on. – Tim Cubitt
Blowing of the fish horn at the start of the race. – Garth Littlewood
C seeding back for the permanent number entrants. – Sumanthra Moodley
Blue / Yellow Number runners starting together in the same batch as in previous years! – Simon Speck
Proper stands for spectators to sit on at the end. My wife always goes with to support me, but for the last few years she had to battle for a spot next to the finish line and then stand for a long time. Secondly, used to be able to take my wife with me into the Blue Number Club tent. She did not eat or drink anything, just wanted to share the moment. Now very unfriendly security staff do not allow it. Bring the old Two Oceans feeling and atmosphere back, please. This is such a great race, but totally mismanaged over the last few years. – Hanno Mostert
Blue Number Club, the Blue Number tent at the finish, and the Blue Number starting batch. – Andre van Wyk
The ringing of the bell as new blue number members enter the blue number area at the finish, to loud applause. – Ian Benson
A return to a dedicated Batch seeding for BNC Members was a popular request
Two Oceans was a journey, a voyage from sea to sea, therefore the ship’ s log. – At Schoeman
The traditional start with all the info and the fish horn. Blue Number Dinner with sponsors’ merch. Blue Number Tent at finish to be more inclusive and larger. In the past, you had the Blue Number runner and partner. Now they only allow the Blue Number runner in... and only if you have a Blue Number for that race. Some of us have Blue Numbers for the Ultra, while the rest of the family only runs the Half, but on Sunday you are not allowed to enter because you are not a Half Blue Number. – Brenton Schnetler
Blue number club as it used to be. Blue and Yellow Numbers were appreciated, and batches as it was, C group. – Ian Lotter
Two Oceans had a booklet in your goodie bag giving a breakdown of the various club’ s number of entrants. They also published the people who were going for their 10th, 20th, 30th, medals and badges. – Franklin Smith
Allow blue numbers, that don’ t run, access to the tent. – Hettie Booysen
Bring back hard copy magazine, spectator grandstands, Blue Number Club start batch, food & drink for spectators, 8km fun run, exciting goodie bags – Bronwynne Wiehl
Tradition & heritage: Bring back“ The World’ s Most Beautiful Marathon” as the race slogan. Globally, there are not many races that can make that claim, but Two Oceans lives up to the promise. The slogan taps into aspiration and emotion – two powerful drivers in branding.“ Conquer the Current” is vague and disconnected from the running experience. Suitable for a surf ski event, not Two Oceans. – Andrew Maggs
The BNC Members are looking for dedicated BNC merchandise
