Let's Unify

By Gabriel Hargrove

Jefferson has many clubs and committees, in this article I will tell you about Club Unify. Club Unify is a committee where students are united to work with other students who have learning and physical disabilities. In this club students will learn about disabilities and learn acceptance of all students despite their differences. It is important to know about disabilities because if you treat a person with disabilities unfairly or judge them for their disabilities you are making them feel bad. They deserve to be respected as much as you do and as much as everyone in the world. They might look, think, or act differently than you but in the end we are all human and that is what matters.

It’s important to know about disabilities because if you treat a person with a disability unfairly or judge them for their disabilities you are making them feel bad. They deserve to be respected as much as you do and as much as anyone else in the world does. Students in Club Unify will brainstorm ways to raise awareness about Club Unify and their members. In this club students with disabilities will participate in the Special Olympics at Union High School. Another special event in Club Unify is the pep rally. At this rally Club Unify members will get non members excited and informed about Club Unify and its movement.

You don’t have to be a member of Club Unify to help. You can help and work with students who have disabilities in your classroom or after school. “Be a buddy not a bully.”
