Leadership Day

By: Lynda Franca

The end of the school year is coming up quick, and so is Leadership Day. Leadership Day is a day at the end of the school year where we celebrate how we learned about and displayed leadership throughout the year. Leadership Day also has a theme each year. In past years, we used cultural themes. We decided to change it this year. The Lighthouse Committee has decided to use the theme “Lights, Camera, Leaders” for a Hollywood look. The school will be decorated in many different kinds of decorations that could represent leadership.

After interviewing Ms. DelValle, one of the Lighthouse Committee teachers, about Leadership Day, I was able to learn even more about it. Here are the questions I asked her and the answers she provided. Q: “What is your favorite part of Leadership Day?” A: “My favorite part is the students explaining all the fun academic activities they’ve done.” Q: “How do the students contribute to Leadership Day?” A: “The students collect projects they’ve done and present them on their own. They decorate the school by themselves and choose the theme by themselves. They also give tours and perform by themselves.” Q: “What would you say is the most important thing Leadership Day represents?” A: “It represents how our students are becoming leaders.” I would like to thank Ms. DelValle for her participation in my interview as well as providing valuable insight regarding Leadership Day. We expect this year to be lots of fun and can’t wait to see you there.
