college doubles its campus adds students , residences

In late December Bluefield State agreed to acquire its most significant property since Hamilton Hatter bought four rocky hillside acres in 1895 .
Located less than a mile from main campus , the recently renamed Medical Education Center more than doubles the size of the existing campus .

The Medical Education Center creates immediate and longer-range benefits for the college and the area .
President Robin Capehart said , “ Acquiring this property permits Bluefield State to expand our campus , expand programs , expand student housing . We had ambitious plans for the college , but no room to grow . Now we do .”
The School of Nursing and Allied Health will relocate there .
With the college leasing back part of the property so Princeton Community Hospital can retain emergency and other health services , the School will be able to coordinate important clinical studies onsite .
