Frank Hart Receives Distinguished Service Award

Former Bluefield State professor and dean Frank Hart has received the 2021 Linton E . Grinter Distinguished Service Award from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology ( ABET ).
The Grinter Award is the organization ’ s highest honor .
Former Bluefield State professor and dean Frank Hart has received the 2021 Linton E . Grinter Distinguished Service Award from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology ( ABET ).
In presenting the award , the organization cited Hart for “ extraordinary contributions … in advancing accreditation of academic programs in STEM disciplines . He led the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission ’ s ( ETAC ) adoption of outcomes-based accreditation . His work with the American Society of Engineering Education , the National Forum of Engineering Technology and the National Academy of Engineering contributed to a substantial increase in the number of ABET-accredited engineering technology programs . He participated in approximately 48 ABET visits as a Program Evaluator or Team Chair and served as the Team Chair for

the first ETAC visit outside the United States .”
ABET provides accreditation to 850 colleges and universities in the United States and 40 other countries . Hart currently serves as its Adjunct Accreditation Director for Engineering Technology Programs .
In acknowledging the award , Hart said , “ ABET is the gold standard in program accreditation .
