As I mentioned briefly in my last letter, our referendum request was overwhelmingly approved by a majority of voters. In the time elapsed since the November election, the District has been going about the business of planning for the changes that were approved.

As you may or may not have heard, due to a clerical error by the DuPage Election Commission, the Park District has had some challenges in obtaining our referendum-approved bonds to fund the voterapproved projects.

At the time of publication of this article, we have not yet been able to obtain the bonds, which means

Buzz Puccio there will be uncontrollable delays with all of the proposed projects. This situation is not due to any wrong-doing of the Park District or our residents. It is unfortunately out of our control, and we hope it will be quickly rectified so that we may proceed. We will keep you updated as we know more information via our website and social media( Facebook and Twitter). Keeping on the topic of the referendum, there are three people who I would like to specifically thank for their efforts in its passage. Ron Olson, Gerace Olson and Linda Auchinschloss worked tirelessly to form the Friends of Bloomingdale Parks and solicited donations on its behalf to get the word out to you, our residents. Without them, our athletic organizations and their many volunteers, staff and the Board of Commissioners in their personal time, these wonderful and needed improvements would not be taking place. We are grateful to all of you.

With all this behind us, welcome to spring! Enjoy the nicer weather, get outside and use the parks – that’ s what they’ re there for.
