HOW TO BECOME

A HIGH END FASHION MODEL

By Percy Mohale( Youngest Professional Modeling Coach In South Africa)
s it always a dream to achieve for you to be a top model? Especially a high end fashion model with all the glitz, glamour & lifestyle you see splashed all over the glossy magazines? And you

Ihave managed to get scouted by a top modeling agency and you ' re now on the books. Awesome! There are several things you need to do if you want to crack the high end fashion part of modeling and now you need to work HARD if you want to make it in this industry, really hard.

The high end fashion industry is the most difficult to crack because that ' s where Money is, not only a competition but there ' s requirements needed unlike commercial modeling which height is not a problem at all.
High end fashion models in this industry make the most money. Aim to be in that percentile of models and don ' t quit until you get there. You will get invited to a lot of parties … this is great and it ' s up to you if you want to party hard. But remember this can affect your work ethic, so keep it to a minimum, and make great contacts with designers, Celebrities & brands as this can give you an opportunity to be their brand ambassadors.
Being a successful high fashion runway model requires much more than just drop-dead gorgeous looks. ¤

Be sure about the requirements. Minimum height should be 1.7m for ladies and 1.8m for Guys and you must look good in a two-dimensional photograph.
Have a legitimate agency. Be careful of scams; make proper investigations before signing up with a modeling / casting agency.
Perseverance is the key to success. Don ' t give up because you are rejected by casting agencies, you may be a beauty pageant queen but when certain requirements don ' t fit for a role casted for, you won ' t be selected.
Make connections as much as you can, be social and groom your personality to an extend that you become a public figure automatically by engaging yourself with other brands, look presentable all the time and support others in other to get the same support back.
¤ Have a backup plan. Make sure that you at least have a degree in hand. Complete school and try to apply for college and universities.
¤ Stay alcohol and drug free. Keep your skin clear. Eat healthy and exercise – Keep your diet simple, eat healthy foods( vegetables, fruit and protein) 6 days a week and treat yourself one day a week..
¤ Be confident. Have an outrageous personality, remember there ' s thousands more people aiming for the same spot, your personality will sure guarantee you the spot( we all can walk the runway)
¤ Don ' t be late – When you ' re going to castings, it ' s better to be early than late. If you ' re late, you ' ll build up a bad reputation and you won ' t be booked for castings.
¤ Test shoots – Go to as many as you can, it helps to build your portfolio, meet new people and network in the industry.
¤ If you ' re under 18, consult your parents. Only they can sign contracts for you if you are a minor.
