HOW TO
WRITE AN INTERESTING
PIECE OF POEM
T
he best way to
learn as an
inspiring
writer/poet is
through making
mistakes, sometimes
"a lot of 'em".
Sharing is caring as
the saying goes.
Through my
experience of writing
poetry, there are
things I learned,
mistakes I finally put
into correction.
>>Wear a Poetic shoe.
Now that you already know what
to write about, put yourself in the
same situation you are writing
about, hold on a background of
your poem. This will enhance a
"feel" of your poem, the reader will
be connected to your poem easily.
Your choice of words should be in
line with the content & feel in your
poem. If the poem is about LOVE,
express yourself with words that
are more in line with LOVE.
>>Insight.
HERE'S SOME
TECHNIQUES
First of all, it's simple to recognize
real art on a poet who doesn't want
to be obvious in his poetry. Like
everyone knows that blood is red
and grass is green, unless you play
around this words in a different
approach, avoid being predictable.
But do not force originality, if blood
is red, then don't force in another
colour for the sake of being
different! Keep your focus on
subject matter to find reality that
makes it unique.
>>Inspiration (what to
write about).
>>Meaning and Expression
The first step to write any poem
is knowing what to write about.
This doesn't need complex poetic
knowledge, but anything that has
inspired you, preferably
something you've experienced in
first hand. It's easy to write about
something you know very well.
Now that you know what
inspired you, stick to it & create
ideas around such topic. Always
remember that the simplest topic
can be the best poem ever.
You need to be intelligent with this,
put in line words that you
understand, that are also right for
your content. Talented poets can
describe invisible things in a way
that you feel they are visible. You
can never see LOVE, but a poet can
use its impact to describe how
visible it is. Death doesn't have a
smell right? You can describe places
it has touched to make 'em smell it.

In hope that we all learned, I
would like to leave you with this
poem I wrote for (dedication to
Ndivhuwo Diadem "Queen
Dee" Malindi) my Queen, it's
called KEY.
KEY.
Infinite in thinking and feeling,
Far from infidelity and past
infusion.
It gives me a reason to love,
Initiative to build and maintain!
Queen! You define wisdom
injection,
Like love is freedom of
interpolation,
Past to present invitation,
That you never build a room of
interrogation,
Respect to the Queen!
The past is now guilty and offkey,
Coz to your heartily-promise I
got a key,
To my heartily-promise you
deserve a key,
So let love be pedestal,
So we build an empire outta
past survival.
