Dear Remnant,
Dear Remnant,
Greetings to you in the Name of our Lord
and Saviour Jesus Christ!
As the world continues to combat the
Coronavirus, the increasing death toll has
raised an alarm and people all over the world
are being consumed with fear, worry and
anxiety. However, as believers we should not
be panic stricken but should search the
Scripture and follow what Jesus has
commanded us to do during these trying
times. In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus repeatedly
asks us not to worry or be anxious about our
earthly needs and future. The reason He gives
is that our Heavenly Father knows all our
needs and nothing can happen to us without
His knowledge. Jesus illustrates this with the
examples of how His Father provides for the
birds of the air and clothes the flowers of the
field. We are more valuable than them.
With this truth in mind, let us do the
following:
1) Remember and Claim His Promises: All
the promises of God are yes, and Amen in
Him. All through the book of Psalms, we see
David looking up to God as his refuge and
strength. Psalm 91:3 says, “Surely He shall
deliver you from the snare of the fowler and
from the perilous pestilence.” King Solomon
in Proverbs 18:10 reminds us that the name
of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous
run into it and are safe. True security lies not
in the absence of danger but in the presence of
Christ in us. I also urge you to read David's
song of deliverance in 2 Samuel 22.
2) Seek First the Kingdom of God: Our
priority should always be to seek God and His
Kingdom. Throughout the Gospels, starting
from the 'Sermon on the Mount', Jesus was
speaking about the kingdom of God. He
taught about it in parables. Even after His
resurrection, He was speaking of the things
pertaining to His kingdom (Acts 1:3).The
Apostles' messages were also based on
inheriting eternal life and entering the
kingdom of God. In Colossians 3:2, Paul
admonishes us to set our minds on the things
above, not on the things of the earth. Nothing
in this world is permanent. The Apostle John
in 1 John 2:17 says that the world is passing
away and the lust of it; but he who does the
will of God abides forever. We should not be
busy with the things of the earth like our job,
business, domestic work, etc., without giving
our prime time to God. It is the cares of this
world and the deceitfulness of riches that
choke the Word and make it unfruitful. We
have to prioritise our life in such a way that
Jesus is always kept first in our life. The
kingdom of God is not eating and drinking but
righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy
Spirit (Rom 14:17). Holiness in heart, purity
in life, peace with one another and joy of the
Holy Spirit are the things that God requires of
His subjects. Set aside a time for prayer,
fasting, Bible meditation, family prayer,
intercessory prayer and soul winning.
May God bless us with the blessings of His
kingdom and make us a blessing!
Yours in His service,
A. Lionel
