2020 is the year where we, consumers,
buy clothes, get tired of them and throw
them out. Studies have shown that 60
percent of the clothes in the world are made of
synthetic materials, a.k.a. plastic and we all know
that plastic is not really that good for our planet.
Claudia, a IMEM student, loves to thrift! She
owns a lot of vintage clothing from United
Wardrobe or vintage stores. “United wardrobe
is the perfect place for when clothes from your
favorite store are sold out. Also, a lot of times
I dream of a clothing item that doesn’t even
exist. United Wardrobe always gives me the
perfect item because they have such a big offer.”
Thrift shopping reduces the waste and use
of resources. The jeans, top or sweater that
you love so much roughly took 1800 gallons
of water and 80 million metric tons or carbon
dioxide emissions. In addition, when thrift
shopping you won’t contribute to the industry
that is characterized by polluting the air and water.
