Besides the outside aspects of campus , BUas also focuses on the inside . For example , all water taps are motion censored . Even though BUas has taken a lot of measurements , according to Viktoria , sustainability is always a work in progress . For instance , it is still a work in progress when looking at the canteens . “ We have a catering vision that a former colleague has written . She wrote a vision for both frontier catering and the Sibelicious catering on how to make it healthier and more sustainable . So , how to have less plastic waste and less food waste in general and make the selection healthier . An example , more vegetarian and vegan options .”
Have you ever noticed that BUas tries to promote environmentally responsible behavior to us ? Due to a student-written thesis , it now offers waste separation and recycling bins . Staff members are also encouraged to bring their coffee mugs and students to bring their water bottles instead of buying new plastic bottles every day . Also , you might be happy not having to print a lot of extensive documents for BUas anymore . One significant benefit is not having to wait for minutes by the printer until your document is finally fully printed . However , it also contributes to the saving of a lot of paper . Call it a win-win situation ! “ I think , for now , it is all those small things that don ’ t stand out but are there .”
Even though Viktoria ’ s tips are a step in the right direction , according to her , the most crucial thing is discussing sustainability between students , lecturers , and other staff members . “ Recognize that it is not a separate topic , but a topic integrated into everything we do , especially in all the courses at BUas . Sustainability is also ecological , social , and economic . So , have discussions about how we can implement different aspects of sustainability in our professional life and personal life and how we can be better
managers and better employees / employers in the future .”
