BUas ’ Community Garden :
Besides the Green Office , BUas has its own Community Garden . This is located behind the Chapel and is managed by the gardening club : they constantly plant veggies , flowers , and herbs to exercise their passion for gardening ! The members of the Community Garden meet up every other week .
“ The main goal of the garden is to contribute to a more sustainable , eco-friendly , and circular University by offering students and employees a piece of land where fruits , vegetables , and flowers can be planted .”
Besides the garden , there is a so-called “ Green House ” where vegetables are grown . The Green House is a collaboration between the gardening club and Sibelicious . When looking into the future , their goal is to use the products from the garden and the Green House to cater to Sibelicious .

“ What I love about renting out bees is that companies can watch and learn from them .”
BUas ’ Honeybees :
In addition to the Sustainability Office , The Green Office , and the Community Garden , BUas does even more ! To improve biodiversity , BUas also keeps bees on campus . These bees don ’ t just ensure that the Community Garden is well pollinated . They also produce plenty of honey used in the kitchen of Sibelicious .
The bees are cared for and maintained by Peter Sterke . After going through different professions , he got the idea to take a course in beekeeping after reading an article on the importance of bees . Two months after the course , he started keeping his bees . Soon after , he set this up as a business . “ What I love about renting out bees is that companies can watch and learn from them ,” Peter says . The intelligence of the bees is what gives Peter drive . “ They are tiny , and the system is very well put together . They work with each other and die for
each other .”
