NAVEEN JAIN

Not only is Jain busy with Moon Express, his new venture Blue Dot a start-up that aims to form agriculture, health-care and energy businesses from federal research has quite a bit of his time.

"Billions of dollars are invested globally in technologic innovations at research labs that will likely never see the light of day. Why? Because at its core, research is an exploratory academic-driven endeavor, neither business nor market-driven. We believe that much of this otherwise wasted innovation and research can become valuable when it is thoroughly explored and developed by those with an entrepreneurial vision to create impactful solutions. This is where BlueDot comes in. Bluedot is an innovation factory that will licenses disruptive technologies from research labs and infuses them with great entrepreneurs to create profitable enterprises that solve humanity's global grand challenges. We are creating the moonshot economy."

The Blue Dot model will buy the license to a technology developed at a research center that has demonstrated evidence of it’s concept after-which an experienced management team will be put in place to create a company around the project. The caveat is that the selected technology must have the potential to help billions of people and be a worthy and profitable venture.
