I N S P I R A T I O N

Where are you from originally? I was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, but soon after I moved to Victoria, Texas where I attended school and then moved to Austin, Texas in 2006.

What brought you to Austin? I actually followed a girl here, for what seemed to be a "brighter" future. After a few years we broke up, but by that time the city took hold of me and I stayed.

You are a very popular DJ in Austin and can currently be found spinning at ibiza After Dark. Do you find that there is a lot of competition in trying to get gigs at local clubs? I think there is lots of competition, but at the same time there isn't. Simple tasks like showing up on time, being prepared and song selection get a lot of DJ’s the boot. It's one thing to get a gig, but another to keep a gig.

Your company is called Versus Productions. What services do you provide? DJ services, light shows, small concert set ups, music videos and instrumentals.

Where did the name come from (DJ Versus)? Versus

originally came from Vaughan-Sanchez productions V.S.

Which we pronounced like Versus. Matt Sanchez and I grew

up together and always have made great music together

(back when we played as a band). Matt took a break from

music while I seemed to bloom into a deeper realm of it, so I

kept the name and just spelled it out insteadof putting V.S.

How do you balance your personal life with the night life?

Tough question because I'm still trying to figure that out. The

days I'm not home (while on the rig), I try to call and text

often and just stay up to date. When I am home I spend time

with the kids, cleaning house and giving my finance her time

as well. It's still a challenge to do it all on top of practicing.

We have noticed that you post information about U.R. Our

Hope Charity. Tell us more about this cause? Vanessa (my fiancé), is very active in the charity because our son (Braxton) was born with Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome (RTS) and the charity has helped us out tremendously. From his NICU stay, doctors visits and simple day to day challenges that our son faces. I have a lot of respect for the charity and will do anything in my power to help with their cause. The U.R. Our Hope Charity assists special needs families find doctors, guidance, financial assistance and other services on an as needed basis. Dr. Mary Elizabeth is the main point of contact and she truly cares about the kids and their families.

Tell us more about your son Braxton? Braxton is 3 1/2 years old and has Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome (RTS), a genetic disease that involves broad thumbs and toes, short stature, distinctive facial features and varying degrees of intellectual disability. The condition is uncommon and affects about 1 in 300,000 children. He is currently learning to walk and due to his condition he will probably not be very verbal. But we use the iPad as a communication device along with sign language. Above all, he is a very happy and lovable.

What challenges have you faced in your life? We all have challenges that we must conquer. My challenge early on as a teenager was drugs. But I have been clean for 8 years and counting. Some may blame their parents and some may blame their friends for their use; but that wasn't the case for me. I was just trying
