all-round fabulous, Sheila Nortley is an
internationally acclaimed award-winning indie
film producer and writer who producedher first short
film Eddie’s Bar back in 2003. Whilst studying for her de-
gree in Media &Communications in 2006 at Brunel University
she launched a production company, which specialised inmusic
video production, documentary and short films. This led to her
producing the neo-noir shortfilm The Hydra which scooped Best
Film at the BFM awards at the British Film Institute in 2009.She
went on to work for Ameen Dream Entertainment and several oth-
er production companies, where she wrote and produced several
award-winning productions including Zion, Victim andfeature
film David is Dying. In November 2011 Sheila received a
nomination for a BYA Award forher accomplishments
in film at that point. Her film Zion, a highly an-
ticipated love story, premieredthe following

LAMDA tutors to a demographic she felt didnot have
access to such resources. Though she is no longer involved
in the drama school now it isstill running and thriving in the
heart of Camden. Determined to reach a wider audience, Sheila
collaborated with a young director named Sebastian Thiel to release
a short film called Illegal Activity – it was a reading campaign witha
difference which played on the discourse of stereotypical urban films to
challengepreconceptions and engage youth. The film screened at War-
ner Bros, Google Headquarters andBAFTA before launching online and
going viral. In 2013, Sheila made her acting debut in featurefilm Sable
Fable for which she was also Associate Producer. The movie direct-
ed by Stephen LloydJackson premiered at the prestigious ABFF
festival in Miami, Florida where Spike Lee announcedthat
it had won Best Film and Best Director. That year also
saw the completion of her first TVPilot The Char-
latans, directed by international film and
television star Ashley Walters.
