What was the best piece of busi- ness advice you were given when you were starting out? I was told to always believe in myself, stay true to my vision, sur- round myself with positive energy & of course don’t spend your first pay cheque on expensive shoes. What is the favourite thing about your work space? My hot chocolate machine, then my art. Name the biggest overall lesson you’ve learned in running a busi- ness? Never ever ever, ever give up. Know your strengths, find some- thing you are good at and stick with it until it becomes your pas- sion. This is something we have to continue to work at. I’ve been through many personal battles and overcoming these challenges while keeping your focus is a handy skill in business. Name your greatest success or something you are most proud of in your business experience? I’ve been lucky enough to help other women achieve their business goals and dreams. I get a lot of joy watching them slay, watching them transform. It requires constant education, and seeing these women navigate their own challenges in business inspires me to do better and be better. I fall in love with people I’m able to learn from. What tool, object or virtual ac- cessory could you not live with- out? My Calculator Name a woman/ women, past or present that you admire or look up to? I could write a book on women who inspire me, I’ll keep it to 4 here. Michelle Obama- And if you ask me why, the answer is simple- be- cause she’s just so cool & incred- ibly smart. She speaks and I want to get up and do something good, change a situation for the better. She must be one the best orators along with her husband of our time. Valentina Tereshvoka- She was ba- dass. A former textile worker from the Soviet Union became the first woman in space, orbiting the earth forty-eight times. She logged more flight time than the total combined times of every American astronaut who had flown before her. A pioneering female poli- tician she felt that woman abroad had more of a voice than their counterparts in Nigeria and fought to change this. She is a constant reminder of how slowly things are changing in the area of women’s rights in Nigeria. J K Rowling- Something must be said of a woman (some call her queen) who inspired an entire generation to love reading. I can’t keep up with the number of little boys and girls who tell me they want to become writers because of harry potter. Noting that she started from humble beginnings, had the courage to chase a dream and never gave up in the face of multiple rejections.
