WHERE WE ARE VS WHERE WE SHOULD BE.

T
he annual fashion season in
all its magical glory is upon
us! Right now, the fashion
world is abuzz with sever-
al preparatory activities that
will eventually set the major themes for
the next fashion season. To be excited for
all the pomp is a given, but con-
sidering how important
proper positioning is in
any official capaci-
ty,certain questions
should be asked
and answered.
The fashion in-
dustry is no
less the hub for
glamour and
beauty than it
is for efficiency
and excellence.
Arieta Mujay is
no new name on
the fashion terrain.
Having acquired 15
years’ worth of experi-
ence in various sectors of
the fashion industry and a stag-
gering resume, this self-proclaimed “global
ghetto girl”is certainly a fashion connois-
seur. A superb creative, Arieta began as a
window dresser for GAP. She gleaned from
fashion magazines and stylists in the UK as
a fashion intern, proceeded to fashion PR as
a press officer for New Look while juggling
roles as a part-time stylist. She advanced
into the role of PR manager and took up
a job with River Island where she success-
fully worked an avalanche of departments
including publicity, styling, directing and
editing. While at River Island, she worked
closely with pop star Rihanna,
who had collaborations
with the brand as well
asa host of celebri-
ties such as Kelly
Roland, Amber
Le Bon, Tyson
Beckford, Olu-
chi and several
others.
Re-
lentless in her
pursuit of in-
novation, she
toured nine Af-
rican countries
in four weeks to
hone her already
huge capacity for in-
genuity and proceeded
to infuse the real African
flavors into her work and rep-
resentation with an admirable passion.
Venturing off bravely after her globally
recognized stint with River Island, Arieta
launched an African creative collective that
sought to nurture African creative talent
in the UK and advice brands and retailers
